EMMA LYNN loves Monday because she has Girl Scouts but dislikes Monday because she has doubled sided homework.
The Cadettes are working on their Tree badge. The thing I love about Cadettes is that it is completely girl led. We created art using trees. Ruth has a cute little group of Daisies and is still enthusiastic about going. The Brownies are planning a food and clothing drive for the community and Emma has spent lots of time making posters to put up in school.
Ruth's clogging class is doing a song with their moms so we hung around so I could practice with her. Its going to be super cute and naturally she is wearing her classic-super-happy-chessy grin. I love it! At one point I have to pick her up by her waist while she puts her arms and legs out in a X. She has been wanting to practice at home. ;)
After running home to change clothes and grab a crock pot of chili we rushed back to town for a extended Romans family pumpkin patch bonfire roast FHE. It is the 3 annual and I appreciate Aunt Nancy hosting and getting us together. The kids had a fabulous time.
LUCY loves Tuesday because she can wear her sparkly purple leotard at gymnastics but dislikes Tuesday because we ate potatoes. {When I asked her how long she has "disliked potatoes" she said since last week. haha}
We have enjoyed the mild fall weather. The kids and I do homework at the church before cub scouts/art start. We might have to rethink that when it gets colder...
In the process of Grandma Cindy moving and clearing out her basement we have received some items. The most beloved and used being roller blades and hockey sticks. The boys spent a lot of time cleaning out the old foundation next to our house with the grand idea to make it into a hockey rink. That space has so many possibilities!
SPENCER loves Wednesday because he has piano lessons but dislikes Wednesday because he loses first recess with the late start.
Bebe Jane is 3 months old!!! It has seemed like a hard and crazy three months. But I can also say that we have made a lot of good progress the last couple of weeks. The soy formula has been super helpful. She still sleeps a lot and is generally more fussy in the evening. She continues to be a fabulous sleeper at night. She sleeps in her cradle. She does not like to be held or rocked to sleep. She'll be fussy and mad but if you lay her down she'll go to sleep. Its odd but nice at the same time. She still sucks her fingers to soothe but not as much as she was. She wakes up once at 5:30 which allows me to feed her, read scriptures and then get everyone up and ready for school. Its quite perfect. She is happiest in the morning and is becoming more giving with her smiles and coos. Because of all the tears I feel like I need to soak up those smiles. They are precious and cherished! I'm guessing she is 11.5 maybe 12 pounds. I think she'll start tanking up now that we have the feeding thing figured out. Grateful for the peace and completion this baby girl brings to our family.
Ruth brought one of my favorite show and tells to date:
The button of her father as a freshman basketball player. Man that button has been a hot item around here. Hope you're feeling the love daddy-O!
For our service we decided to put together Halloween treat buckets to secretly deliver to 2 friends. We got the supplies during ballet and delivered during gymnastics {talk about multitasking.} It was LOTS of fun. I love how service makes me feel and I LOVE doing it with my kids even more. So we were not the most successful on our sneakiness but definitely A+ for effort.
I want to note that Austin continues to ROCK piano. It is SO exciting to see him developing this talent. His teacher was praising him up and down. And because I want it to continue I do too on a regular basis. His glowing smile makes my heart happy. Keep it up Austin!!
And the exciting news of the day is that Sam moved up to stay with us! During the priesthood session Kurt felt like he should offer Sam a job at the store in the office. We were pleased that he said yes and came up so quickly. He is staying in Lucy's room until we get the apartment in the shop fixed up. We moved her bed into our room and got everything situated. The kids love having him here and want to adopt him. Apparently being an uncle isn't enough.
AUSTIN loves Thursdays because they have pancakes at school for breakfast but dislikes Thursday because he had to do testing in reading. {RUTH really, really, really wanted me to add that she LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Thursday because she has Ballet!!}
Today was Grandma Cindy's birthday so Lucy and I made brownies. Even though it doesn't look like it some of the batter DID actually make it into the pan. Haha And yes, the purple leotard is a standard article of clothing around here. I'm getting my money's worth!
When I picked the kids up from school they all looked like this. Donut selling time. Spencer is just so cute I had to take a picture! Working towards the new building on campus that will have a gym AND stage. Exciting!
After ballet we picked up Kurt and drove out to West Fall to have brownies and ice cream with Grandma. Luckily the kids didn't have school the next day so it gave us the freedom to be more flexible with bedtime. It was great to visit.
RUTH loves Friday because its movie night but dislikes it when dad pretends to throw away her bunny.
MOM loves Friday when there is no school! We had the Bairs over to play and Emma went to a birthday party. We dressed up, danced, read books, play legos and did some crafts.

Sam was good enough to put on the wings Lucy brought him. No wonder they want to keep him!

Good morning happy girl!

Spencer had his painted all neatly and then started mixing the colors in big strokes. "It's ART" he said.
We love our cousin time.
That evening I did some cleaning and organizing in the mud room and shed. Even a small bit makes me happy. I found a sack with 5 or so stuffed bears that I had saved from childhood. The older 3 kids were so excited {go figure!} Mr. Cuddles has become Spencer's new BF.
SATURDAY we tackled the apartment in the shop. Oh. My. Grossness. This was such a terrible job. Flashbacks of cleaning up the house last summer. Sam and the kids worked really hard and never complained. I'm proud of them. Spencer earned his lego Chima set and Austin the latest Percy Jackson book.
Spencer on the mountain of nasty we hauled out
~~~Romans Reflections~~~
- The little girls and I have been having lunch dates with Kerri once a week. Kerri said something was weird. So Lucy replies back, "You're weird." Don't you love verbal 2 year olds with older sibling influence? So I explained that it wasn't nice to say that and to try something else {"you're so happy, silly, etc.." So Lucy says to Kerri, "You're so immodest!" I am STILL laughing. Funniest thing ever.
- Lucy loved going to the "pumpmens" patch and picking out a tiny baby "pumpmen."
- Lucy got a new Halloween shirt with a cat dressed up like a witch. "This is a BAD KITTY!" She told everyone about her "bad kitty" and was very serious and very animated. Throughout the week, "Can I wear my bad kitty shirt?"
- After scripture study Lucy tells Kurt, "mom is a queen and you are Jesus."
So apparently this is a LUCY Reflections week. Hopefully the kids will be highlighted next week. That girl is such a crackup.
Thank you so much for keeping this updated! I love feeling like I know what's going on in your day-to-day lives. I was cracking up at Lucy's comments, but I think my favorite is Kurt's freshman basketball pin. I wish the picture was more zoomed out so you could have seen how short his shorts were. :) LOVE YOU and MISS YOU!
I'm crying my brains out I'm laughing so hard. Oh man, thanks for the ab work. You guys are so funny!
Hilarious! Your kids are so funny.
You are good to tackle the apartment. It makes me feel guilty about my basement... I've got to organize it. :(
