Work Ethic

This is something I have been thinking a lot about lately.

It is the number one reason we bought more land.

But the thing is you can still learn how to work even if you don't live on a farm.

So the question that has been haunting me...do my children not have a work ethic because their mother doesn't?

Wannabe

This girl wants to be a dancer soooo bad.


The current chatter is about when she will be a ballet and/or clogger.

She found Emma's ballet leotards yesterday and she.was.in.HEAVEN. I'm pretty sure that is all she will want to wear until she is officially a dancer.

Until then we will have many, many shows on the home stage.






I can't help but smile.

Good Bye My Love

Yesterday was the last day the Boise temple was open. It is now closed for extensive renovations. We have not been given a time frame of how long this will take. We are now headed for monthly Twin Falls temple trips. I cannot express how much I will miss my weekly temple dates.

I have a deep love for the temple. It is the center of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is literally the Lord's house. I love the feeling the moment you enter the temple doors. I love the strength, peace, and commitment that come from temple attendance. I know by going to the temple often we will remember the covenants we have made and remain focused in our eternal prespective.

I highly anticipate the rededication of my beloved temple.

The Big Brother

Austin had an impromptu mommy/daddy date this afternoon. Naturally Lucy was there. But Austin wouldn't have it any other way. The main point of this post is to convey, record, and illustrate what a fabulous BIG BROTHER Austin is.

He totally, completely and utterly adores Lucy. He is enamored with her. I remember he was the same way with Rooster. He would come home from kindergarten and the first thing out of his mouth would be, "Where's Rooster? How is she doing?" The first time school mom in me was starved for attention from him and couldn't believe he didn't want to shower me with hugs and kisses. ;)

He is always holding her.


He is the quickest to run to her aid.
He will help with whatever task I need done if it involves Lucy in any way.
He loves the way she smells.
He gives me play-by-play updates of every facial expression she makes.


His Lucy radar is definitely tuned in.

As you can see we are ALL quite smitten with this little sweetheart.


But Austin is sensitive to her needs and takes his Big Brother responsibility very seriously. He does an amazing job.

This is an important thing for me to remember when he instigates, creates uBer extreme silliness, seeks mischief, and runs amok. We all have strengths {and weaknesses.} Being a super Big Brother is definitely one of Austin's.

THREE weeks

She is sleeping and eating well. 4-5 hour stretches at night and the nursing is going really well. We are well on the way to a good schedule. She is a good baby. She handles the constant love and attention from her siblings perfectly. And she is even patient.

Emma Lynn changed her first diaper this morning. She was so helpful and so proud. When I picked Lucy up a few minutes later her diaper was at her thighs and her crib was soaked. I had to smile. I really am blessed with the BEST helpers.




I over heard Austin tell the other kids, "Lucy is better than TV." No doubt.
We sure love you little Lucy Lou!

Last night {7/7/11} Elaine had little Daniel. He weighs 7 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches long. We are so glad he is here! WELCOME little one.

Over a year ago when I was leaving the Young Womens program the stake asked me to help with their Youth Conference 2011. That was today. I was in charge of the Humanitarian Service Project. We tied fleece blankets to give to all the local fire stations. We cut, tied and shrink wrapped 180 blanket today. I'll be honest, there were times when I really didn't think we would finish. And I'd be happy to never see another fleece blanket again.

I enjoyed being involved with the youth again. I also {re}learned that callings bring blessings of assertiveness and confidence. I am happy its done.
