Proud to be an American

June 29 -July 5, 2014

We finally wrapped up Lucy's birthday celebration after church with presents, cake and ice cream.
After blowing out the candles they asked what she wished for, "A unicorn!!" Haha Love that girl and her excitement for life.

 I just love the excitement on this girl's face

 Poses for days....

When we got out of the car after getting home from church we heard a loud hissing sound {no not a snake.} A very large nail immediately flatten our tire almost instantly. That kept us grounded for 2 days. It was such a beautiful thing. I know you won't believe it but when things like that happen {mircles when I don't leave the house for multiple days in a row} I turn into a hermit. I start dreamin and schemin ways to never leave the house again. And I always bring up homeschooling. hahaha No one ever buys it.

Monday Kurt and Cortney went to Fields, OR. Thankfully they got home in time for the BBQ I had organized with the Forsbergs and Fulks. It turned out to be a wonderful evening. I'm so grateful the Fulks were able to come. I'm so grateful for opportunities to reach out and for a supportive husband.

 Emma asked for my phone, "the sunset is just so beautiful!" I love that she notices these things.

For FHE we made a freedom chain listing all the freedoms we are grateful to enjoy. Of course with Lucy around we had some silly ones {i.e. FREE Tacos for everyone!}

Tuesday was Project Life day. We invited Amber Duncan to come over and introduced her to the beautifully simple concept. It was her very first experience with memory keeping of any kind. She got 12 pages done and felt so accomplished!, "I could do this all day. Oh wait, I kind of did!" {She was here from 10:30-4:45}

Love this baby whisperer.

We tried to go swimming with the Bair family that night but sadly someone pooped in the pool and it was closed for the night. As Marti reminded us, at least we weren't IN the pool when it happened. Definitely a silver lining. The kids played at their house instead and everyone was content.

Wednesday morning everyone was back at Marti's to play {including Kenzie and Tyler.} It allowed me to do 2 important things while they were all gone and Jane was napping: mop the floor and teach Maggie and Kea a lesson on patriarchal blessings without noise and/or distractions.

We went to Ontario that afternoon to run errands and hit up the library. We joined in their 4th of July crafts and a birds of prey presentation by Idaho Power. We must have enjoyed it cause we were there for hours.

We met up with Kurt to go to the rodeo. The plan was for all of us to go. But this was the reality, it was 102 degrees and I had NO desire to go. Jane did not need to be in the heat {thanks Jane!!} So I took Jane, Lucy and Spencer home with me {he said he was too tired.} We read new library books and watched a movie in the AC. Sounds like perfection to me.

These guys also had a wonderful night! They came home laughing and telling me all about the funny things that happened {a dog peed on the rodeo clown!} Thanks Grandma Cindy for the cute pics

Thursday the stars were aligned: my car tire and a poop-free pool so we were able to keep cool.

We rushed home so Kurt and I could go to the temple. It was great to go together. After picking up parts we had a nice Olive Garden dinner on the way home.

Friday morning Kurt and Austin went into town to help set up the flags for the 4th. The rest of us met up later at the church for the 4th of July breakfast. We were able to snag a few pics of these silly patriotic kids.

 Jane's first 4th

Back home we packed the car to spend the day up in the woods of Garden Valley, Idaho with Kelli and Dan & kids. It took about 2 1/2 hours to get there. It was quite busy due to the 4th weekend but we just kept driving until we finally found a place with little to no people. Then we hauled all our stuff across the river at a small sandy bank we found. And there we stayed for the next 5 hours until the mosquitoes got too bad. Because it was so hot outside the frigid river water was a perfect combo. It was fabulous for so many reasons: hanging with Kelli & Dan and their adorable kids {one-on-one sibling hang out time is still important as adults} and to get away from home, in the mountains enjoying the beauty of nature. Always a favorite. I think its worth the drive and Kurt is determined to find a river closer to home {although NONE of Eastern Oregon has a drop of water at the moment.}

Happy 4th of July. I truly am proud to be an American and for the freedoms it provides me. We are so very BLESSED.

Saturday was Clean Up Day! We tackled the food storage food. Mice had gotten in and made a mess. Sooo sad. We took everything out, bleached the wall, floor, shelves and every single can of food before putting it all back in. It was a long, hot day but so good to work together. Kurt, Lucy, Spencer and I continued working in other various areas outside  before getting cleaned up to visit families on the Miles side and Baylea Forsberg's baptism.

 This little girl was teasing grandpa with the block. It was funny.
Little miss passing out cuties that Emma made.

~~~Romans Reflections~~~
- Austin started his own blog: Romans Crew JR. His profile is: "I'm 11 years old and I'm LDS."
I love everything about this. Adorable.    http://austinromans169.blogspot.com
