West Jordan Reunion

July 20 - 26, 2014

Random Sunday naps

Monday was EMMA DAY. We started out with some amazing pancakes.

Emma Day was full of service {be still my heart} starting with "Oooo La La Salon." She had signs, relaxing stations, a bunch of nail and make-up color, foot soak and her very own recipe for a youth serum facial.

Ingredients from her facial serum include: shampoo, perfume, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, graham crackers crumbs, 2 types of lotion, and conditioner. After she finished, "Oh I can tell your face is much softer now." Sounds like I'd better book a follow up appointment.

The make-up came out and special press-on nails just for her.

Next was some salon styling for herself. She had been planning to donate her hair to Locks of Love for quite awhile. She decided that today was the day. We looked up the rules, measured her hair {needed 10 inches} and determined it was long enough to submit. We made a ponytail, braided it and then I cut it off.

Measuring the braid

It's gone!

I started freaking out that I would be able to blend it and make the back look good - it was so jagged! I started pretending like I knew what I was doing {like everything else in life - fake it till you make it.}
With a little straight iron styling it worked out.

That afternoon we took a FREE lemonade stand to RPM complete with a cute poster and straws.

I love this girl. I have really enjoyed her this summer. It is fun to watch her grow and mature and I appreciate the friendship we are developing. She is talented, creative, kind and organized. As her mother that makes me a blessed woman.

Tuesday we made preparations to head to Utah. We didn't leave Boise until 4 pm. We stopped at Target in Nampa before heading out to buy Jane a new car seat. Look out big and cute and excited she was. It hindsight it was not a great idea because she wasn't use to this car seat and struggled to sleep soundly in it.

 Wednesday we enjoyed time with Grandma and Grandpa.

Ruth loved playing "Go Fish" with everyone all weekend.

Helping grandpa plant hens & chicks

Going for walks with grandpa {usually to the park.}

Of course the boys were obsessed with Sam's X-Box games

That night we drove down to Provo to go to the Natural History Museum at BYU. Unfortunately when we got there it was closed {because the next day was Pioneer Day. The website said nothing about closing early though!} We walked over to the art museum and luckily it was open.

My artist was quite inspired in the museum. She could have been there all night.

They had a very cool costume display. Yes, I was a rebel and stuck a few pics.

The other kids loved climbing and exploring all the out door exhibits a lot more.

Late that night Joseph and Maren and girls flew in. It was fun to meet Gwendolyn for the first time. These cousins also had fun getting to know each other.

We explored RED BUTTE GARDENS which was free in honor of Pioneer Day in some killer heat.

The gardens were creative, beautiful and impeccably kept. The kids garden spot was my favorite.

The kids were super excited to find the kid section of the gardens because of the splash pad. It was the perfect answer to a blistering hot day.

Late Thursday night Roger and Karen flew in. Kurt had also found a ride to Utah with the Bishop and so I drove up to Brigham City that night to pick him up. We got back to WJ around 1 am. Friday we were finally all together {minus Tim.} The girls went for a quick shopping trip that morning. Some like shopping more than others.

Always making time to go to the park.

That afternoon we went swimming at their rec center. Its amazing how close it is and how cheap the prices are for such a great water park. It was perfect fun.

That evening Sam, Karen, Roger, Maren and I went down to Orem to watch The Man of La Mancha at the Hale Theater. Ben and Elaine were also there on a hot date. The music was great and I enjoyed the discussion of themes and meaning after it was over. Way too graphic to be a favorite.

In Provo we met up with the Farnsworth for some late night treats at SubZero. It was fun to try but not the yummiest ice cream. Super fun company though!

 Kurt dropped his phone on the bathroom tile Friday and it looked like this.
{The sad thing is that Spencer dropped mine that morning too and it cracked. How can you get mad, I didn't have the case on it and its just a thing.} Kurt was long overdue for his up grade and went while we were at the play. They were having some big promotion and so he came back with 2 ipad mini, 2 blue tooth speakers & a blue tooth with our monthly bill lowered $150 a month. Crazy awesome!

Saturday was an amazing Richards Retreat for the grandkids. All were able to attend except for Gwendolyn and Jane. We did some temple attending and then all the siblings went to lunch at a Thai restaurant. It was good to get us all together. It is a very rare thing these days. It made me sad to think that we were just DAYS away from Tim returning home from his mission. But such is life.

HUGE shout out to my parents for putting together such an amazing Richards Retreat. The kids loved getting their passports stamped and flying all over the world to see new things and experience new cultures. I really appreciate all the love and time that went into this amazing event. We are so blessed with amazing grandparents! THANK YOU!

We slept upstairs in the dinning room. It was a bit hot. hahaha Most nights we slept with minimal clothing in a jumbled heap.
